This Private Cruise to Aegina is Perfect For

1
The Time - Conscious Traveler
One day in Athens and you want to see something beyond the city. Aegina is 45 minutes by private boat, enough time to swim, eat well, and be back before dinner.
2
Families
The crossing on the Axopar 37 is easy for kids. Moni Island has shallow, calm water and deer and peacocks on the shore - which, for most children, beats any beach.
3
Seafood Lovers
Perdika is a fishing village where the fish comes off the boats and onto your plate. It's worth the trip on its own.
4
History Buffs
The Temple of Aphaia is one of the best-preserved ancient sites in Greece and forms the so-called Sacred Triangle with the Parthenon and Cape Sounion. Without a tour bus schedule, you can actually spend time there.
5
Spontaneous Occasions
Close enough to do last minute, far enough to feel like a proper day out. Birthdays, proposals, or no reason at all.
6
Short Stays
If you have one free afternoon in Athens, a private boat to Aegina is the best use of it.

Aegina by Private Boat or Ferry?

The ferry to Aegina takes 75 minutes and you share the deck with everyone else heading the same way. This private boat to Aegina from Athens takes 45 minutes and the only people on board are yours.

The bigger difference isn't the time, it's what you can do when you get there. The ferry docks at the main port of Aegina. The private boat goes where you want: straight to Perdika for lunch at the pier, or anchored off Moni Island before the day-trippers arrive. No queues, no timetable, no waiting for the return sailing when you're ready to leave.

If you want to spend an extra hour at Moni Island or head back to Athens earlier than planned, you just say so. The day runs at your pace across the Saronic Gulf, which, on a 45-minute crossing from the city, is exactly the point.

Why Book Your Private Cruise to Aegina with Azure Day Cruises

The Axopar 37

Most private charters from Athens use whatever boat is available. We use the Axopar 37 - fast, stable, and built for open water. The crossing to Aegina takes 45 minutes. When the Meltemi picks up, you feel the difference between a boat that handles it and one that doesn't. The Axopar handles it.

We Know the Water

We've made this crossing more times than we can count and we know the quiet side of Moni before the day-tripper boats arrive. We know which corner of Perdika is worth the walk and which taverna has been there long enough to still care about the food. That comes from spending years in these waters, not from a travel guide.

Local Knowledge That Actually Helps

The PDO pistachios in Aegina are not all the same, the grower matters. The best table in Perdika needs a recommendation. Before you arrive anywhere, we'll point you in the right direction. That's the difference between booking a private boat trip from Athens with us and booking a standard charter.

One Boat, One Group

No strangers, no shared schedule, no compromises. From the moment you board in Athens to the moment we bring you back, the boat is yours. You set the pace. If you want to stay longer at Moni Island, you stay. If you want to skip the port and go straight to Perdika, we go.

A Skipper Who Knows the Route

Our skippers know the anchorages, the weather patterns in the Saronic Gulf, and which approach to the harbour gives you the best view. They've made this crossing dozens of times. That knowledge is included in the day.

45 Minutes from Athens

Aegina is close enough to do on short notice and far enough to feel like you've actually left the city. More time swimming and eating, less time on the water getting there

What to See & Things to Do in Aegina

1
Temple of Aphaia - The Sacred Triangle
Perched on a pine-covered hill above the island, the Temple of Aphaia is one of the best-preserved ancient sites in Greece and forms an equilateral triangle with the Parthenon and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio. We can arrange a car to meet you at the coast so you reach the site before the morning tour boats arrive.
2
Moni Island
A short crossing from Perdika brings you to Moni - uninhabited, no houses, just wild deer, peacocks, and goats that come down to the waterline. The north side has turquoise, pool-like water that works perfectly for snorkeling off the back of the Axopar. Consistently the quietest and clearest swimming in the Saronic Gulf.
3
Perdika
While the main port of Aegina is worth a look, Perdika is the real stop. A traditional fishing village with a pedestrianized waterfront and fish tavernas that have been there for decades. We dock right at the jetty, you step off the boat and straight to a table
4
Paleochora - The Ghost Village
The medieval capital of Aegina sits hidden on a hillside inland. Known as the "Mystras of Aegina," it has dozens of small Byzantine churches connected by winding stone paths and almost no other visitors. Atmospheric, quiet, and worth the detour if history is your thing.
5
Aegina Town & the Pistachio Market
Before heading back to Athens, the main town is worth an hour. Walk the backstreets, find the grocery boats in the harbour, and pick up Aegina pistachios - PDO protected, grown in volcanic soil, and genuinely different from anything you'll find elsewhere.
6
Agia Marina
The longest sandy beach on the island. It gets busy on the shore in summer, but arriving by private boat means you stay in the deep, clear water offshore - away from the sunbeds and the crowds on the sand.

A Full Day Private Boat Trip from Athens to Aegina - How the Day Runs

10:00 - Departure from Anavyssos Your skipper is at the Anavyssos when you arrive. Quick hello, brief rundown, and we're off. The Axopar clears the harbour fast - within minutes the city is behind you and the Saronic opens up ahead. The crossing to Aegina takes 45 minutes. On a good morning, with the light on the water and the coastline of Attica running alongside, it's one of the better parts of the day.

Premium Boat Trip to Aegina and the Sunken City of Epidaurus

10:45 - Moni Island Before the main port gets busy, we head to Moni, uninhabited, no roads, no beach bars. The north side has a natural turquoise pool with water clear enough to see the bottom from the deck. Snorkel off the back of the boat while deer and peacocks come down to the waterline on the shore. It's a protected park and the only way to reach it properly is by private boat. Ferry passengers don't get here.

12:45 - Lunch in Perdika A short cruise from Moni brings you to Perdika, a traditional fishing village that still works like one. We dock right at the jetty. A few steps and you're at a waterfront taverna where the fish came off a boat this morning. Freshly caught, simply cooked, table by the water. Take your time - the boats aren't going anywhere

14:30 - Temple of Aphaia or a Quiet Bay (optional) The afternoon runs at your pace. If you want history, we arrange a car from the coast up to the Temple of Aphaia — standing since 500 BC, with views across the entire gulf and part of the Sacred Triangle with the Parthenon and Cape Sounio. If you'd rather stay on the water, your skipper finds a bay on the southern coast of Aegina that doesn't show up on any beach guide. You choose on the day.

15:30 - Aegina Town A final stop at the main port before heading back. Walk the neoclassical backstreets, find the grocery boats in the harbour selling local produce, and pick up Aegina pistachios, PDO protected, grown in volcanic soil, and worth taking seriously. They're different from anything you'll find in a supermarket. The late afternoon energy in the town is worth an hour of your time.

17:30 - Back to Athens The return crossing takes 45 minutes. The light at this hour is different from the morning - the Saronic goes quiet, the Athenian Riviera starts to light up, and the day settles. By the time you're back at the marina, you've covered more of the Saronic Gulf than most visitors manage in a week in Greece

Where exactly does the boat leave from - and how do I get there?

We're based in Anavyssos, about 45 minutes south of central Athens. If you'd rather not drive, we can arrange a private transfer from your hotel directly to the marina. If you're coming by rental car, we'll send you the exact GPS pin and meeting point via WhatsApp or email before the day.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the port authorities or our skipper call the conditions unsuitable, we give you two options: reschedule for a date that works, or a full refund of your deposit. We watch the forecast closely and will usually let you know at least 24 hours in advance, not the morning of.

We're a group of 8 - does everyone fit comfortably?

Yes. The Axopar 37 is licensed for up to 11 guests plus crew. A group of 8 has plenty of room, seating at the bow and stern, a shaded lounge area, and enough deck space to move around without getting in each other's way.

What's included in the price, do we pay separately for fuel or port fees?

No. The price covers the boat, the skipper, fuel for the route, and port fees. On board we provide snacks, seasonal fruit, water, and local wine. The only thing not included is lunch at a taverna on the island, if you choose to eat ashore. No extras at the end of the day.

Can we visit the Temple of Aphaia and still have time for swimming?

Yes, but time is the only constraint. If you spend longer at the temple inland, one of the swimming stops gets shorter. If 8 hours isn't enough to fit everything in, we can extend the trip by the hour subject to availability, so you don't have to choose between the two.
